    Crook County Weed and Pest had another productive 2021 and has been successfully carrying out our programs over the course of the seasons as best as possible. The district dealt with many of the same issues all landowners and business owners dealt with in the area, especially the severe drought, which had an impact on many aspects of our programs.     Although summer took its time to arrive, it seems to be flying by at a rapid pace. Weeds grew thick and fast, and with the abundant moisture they continue to do so. Leafy spurge is having a great year of growth around the county, as well as all species of thistles but most notably Scotch thistle. Grasshoppers and Mormon crickets seem to be prevalent in many places throughout the county, but the consistent rains seem to be keeping them at bay.   • Prairie dog poison deadline nears

    The legal deadline for applying Rozol prairie dog poison is soon coming to an end, with March 15 being the last day labeled to apply. The Weed and Pest has limited Rozol in stock, please contact us if you are in need of Rozol, or to talk about other control options with more flexible application dates. Both district employees will be attending a workshop in Casper on March 19 and 20. Because of this, the Weed and Pest office will be closed on March 19 and 20. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
