    The week began with heavy storms across the region, strong enough to cause power outages throughout northeast Wyoming. On Sunday afternoon, severe thunderstorms hit Crook, Campbell and Weston Counties, causing around 4100 members of the Powder River Energy (PRECorp) cooperative to lose power. According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms developed in this area and moved across western South Dakota, with several locations reporting damaging hail and winds.     Moorcroft Town Council has approved $41,996 for the purchase of a new slide set for Noonan Park and something similar for the gym set at Westview Park for Robinson. The funds will be taken from the budget line item for “Parks and Recreation”, which holds $8000, and the remainder from the sixth cent tax money allotted for such improvements.   • Prom to take place during Jubilee

    Unfortunately, we have been unable to have our traditional spring prom. However, the Moorcroft Chamber of Commerce has graciously offered to sponsor prom as an extension of the Moorcroft Jubilee celebrations. Prom will be on July 9, 2020 at the Moorcroft Town Center. In keeping with COVID guidelines, the dance will occur outside, in the courtyard between the old junior high pod and the Bearlodge Rehabilitation doors on South Little Horn.     Pine Haven volunteers came together early Saturday morning to assemble and install the town’s newest acquisition, a playground slide for youngsters to enjoy for many years to come at Waters Park. The town saved between $11,000 and $12,000 by installing the equipment themselves above the material cost of $29,855, according to Pine Haven Council member and liaison over the endeavor Kristi Speed.
