On October 1, at approximately 12:29 p.m., emergency services responded to a report of a collision between an eastbound BNSF train and a tractor trailer belonging to Windon Transport out of Hudson, CO on the Belle Fourche River Road west of Moorcroft. The initial investigation determined that there was minimal damage to the rear of the trailer and the front of the train locomotive. The Moorcroft Council has been discussing tearing down the abandoned municipal water tower at the north end of Belle Fourche Avenue. Monday night’s regular meeting of Moorcroft’s town council was over within half an hour with conversation with MHS agriculture teacher Hugh Jenkins asking for a variance regarding the $3000 tap fee for the barn the school is planning to build south of the high school. Lagoon cell 2 liquid removal is near completion with sludge removal to follow next. This will continue for the next two weeks. Additionally, RCS has removed the old equipment from the blower building and is currently preparing for the new aeration equipment.
