    The 13th annual Harvest Feastival, sponsored by the Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce, was held in last Saturday. Long time co-organizer Elaine Buckmiller stated, “For having the year we’ve had, we – the chamber and the feastival committee – consider it a pretty good success.   • State grant approved for Moorcroft

    The Town of Moorcroft has been approved for a $203,000 grant from the State Land and Investment Board (SLIB) under the CARES Act. These funds will be delivered into the town’s general funds account as reimbursement for wages paid to clerks and police during the pandemic. Though the money is not restricted for particular issues, the municipality has reserved $4000 to cover laptop computers and any other equipment needed for office personnel to work from home when necessary.     Don Lancaster, chief of the Pine Haven Volunteer Fire Department, formally resigned from that position at last Tuesday’s meeting of the town council, citing health issues. The department held the election of department officers prior to meeting with the governing body and Preston Bryant was presented to the council as the new fire chief of Pine Haven.     Going into cold weather, two notable park upgrades are currently underway in Moorcroft. The first is the Noonan Park restrooms: after clearing and compacting the building area, ensuring structural stability, Public Works Director Cory Allison has officially turned over work to contractor Glenn Construction.     On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, Oliver C. Stenbak Jr., loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at his home in Moorcroft, WY at the age of 73. Oliver was born on December 20, 1946 in Powers Lake, ND to Oliver C. Stenbak Sr. and Evelyn (Webb). Oliver was drafted in 1966 and served the Army. Upon returning from Vietnam, Oliver married Judith Ann Johnson on November 22, 1968. The couple moved to Gillette, WY in 1970. They had son, Brian and daughter, Tande.     Moorcroft's senior citizens' center hosted a Veterans Day celebration last Wednesday morning for 21 guests with a breakfast of fruit, biscuits and gravy, juice and coffee.
