Two meetings better than one

For the last few months, the Moorcroft Town Council have been experimentally conducting only one regular meeting a month with an hour preceding as a work session.

This enterprise did not lessen the work for the council; instead the members became more overwhelmed, according to Town Clerk Cheryl Schneider. Councilmen Paul Smoot and Owen Mathews also noted they felt “out of touch” and “not as invested” with the people and issues as they feel their positions demand.

The governing body approved first reading of the ordinance putting the second meeting back on the schedule. The second reading will take place at the January 28 special meeting with the third reading at the February 11 meeting. The second meeting will return to the fourth Monday of the month on February 25.
