Moorcroft Historical Society membership drive

It is once again time to start or renew memberships with West Texas Trail Museum (WTTM) and the Moorcroft Historical Society (MHS). Since the 1980s, this organization has sought to preserve the history of this great community. The support from citizens has kept the museum growing and helped it to be a vital part of the community.

Single, family and business memberships are available. This is a yearly membership and extends now through December 2019. The sponsorship entitles the member to 10 percent off all WTTM Gift Shop purchases, WTTM newsletters and promotes an overall good feeling of support for the community’s museum and cultural arts.

By becoming a member of the Historical Society, one will be part of preserving the history of this area. The support given now will long be cherished by the Moorcroft Historical Society and also by those who visit the museum, locals and tourists alike.

The Moorcroft Historical Society is seeking citizens who want to play a more active role with the museum. One way to achieve this is to become a board member and/or hold an elected office. Volunteering your time during one of the museum’s events, such as the Heritage Round Up or Jubilee Breakfast, is another way to become involved.

Memberships, fundraisers, donations and grants enable the museum to flourish. Even now with the monies granted to the museum through the Crook County Museum District (CCMD), the West Texas Trail Museum needs assistance.

There are many things the CCMD budget is unable to supply. For example, district funds cannot be spent on building repair or for maintenance purposes. All such projects must be paid for from the funds of the Moorcroft Historical Society.

This year’s goal is to refurbish the concrete floor in the Heritage Room with an epoxy finish. Monies obtained through memberships, fundraisers and donations help WTTM reach goals and complete projects.

Interested parties may pick up membership forms at West Texas Trail Museum at 100 E. Weston St. in Moorcroft or call Director Cynthia Clonch at 756-9300.
