Wolves show spark of future success

The Moorcroft Wolves boys’ team took on both the number one and the number two teams in the Northeast Conference last weekend. On Friday, the Wolves matched up against the number one team in the conference, the Big Horn Rams.

As expected when playing a team that is as good as the Rams, it was a very tough battle. The play in the first half was slow and the rhythm was off. Going into halftime, the score was 40-6 Big Horn.

After getting some motivation and time to rethink the game plan, the fired-up Wolves came into the second half of play ready, holding the Rams to only 26 points in the second half, while scoring 14 more of their own. Although the young Wolves team fell short, losing 66-20, it was a hard and well-fought game against a great opponent.

On Saturday, the young Wolves team faced the number two Wright Panthers in an intense match up. The Wolves walked on to the court with confidence and class.

They knew the challenge that they were up against, but that did not stop them from playing with everything they had. The first quarter was outstanding, showing exactly what this young team is capable of, holding the score 13-11 Wright, giving them an extreme amount of confidence.

Going into halftime, the score was 37-21 Wright, but it was a huge improvement, showing that they can compete with anyone. Although the game ended in a loss, the Wolves showed their young talent, with a final score of 72-35 Wright, but with each day and practice, they continue to grow and improve skills that will one day make them an outstanding team to watch.
