MHS graduate retires from Air Force

Senior Master Sergeant Mitchell C. Mellott retired after 20 years of service in the United States Air Force on February 8, 2019.

Mellott graduated from Moorcroft High School 1998 and joined the Air Force in 1999. He took both his basic and technical training at Lackland AFB, TX and has served assignments in South Dakota, Colorado, South Korea and Alaska as well as being deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn and Enduring Freedom.

Mellott started his career as a Traffic Management Journeyman in June of 1999 and, by 2014, was a Traffic Management Flight Superintendent. He received the rank of Senior Master Sergeant in 2016 as well as an Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force and Army Commendation medals, an Air Force Achievement Medal, an Iraq Campaign Medal and a Korean Defense Medal over his 20-year career.

At his last post, the 773d Logistics Readiness Squadron in Alaska, Mellott led more than 55 military and civilian personnel, directing and managing base logistics related to shipments of cargo and passengers and supporting global operations.

Mellott retires with wife Erin and the couple plans to remain in Alaska according to mom, Susan Devish, to "enjoy their retirement".

The retirement ceremony for Mellott was held in Anchorage, AK with his mother, Susan Devish, grandmother Donna Mellott, father Cris and stepmother Charlotte Mellott and father and mother in-law Nyle and Linda Nelson in attendance. Susan stated that the entire family is very proud of both Mitchell and Erin for their service and dedication over the last 20 years.
