Garbage schedule to change

Western Waste Solutions will start gathering residential garbage throughout Moorcroft Friday morning, April 5. Residents are encouraged to take note of this change of scheduled pick up as Friday will be the day of garbage collection moving forward.

If a household needs an extra pick-up, the Moorcroft Town Council chose to leave that discussion between the clerk’s office and Western Waste so any citizen who wants this extra service is to contact Clerks Cheryl Schneider or Jodi Clark at Town Hall to customize a schedule.

Company owner Dave Naughton was on hand to finalize contractual details at the regular meeting of the Moorcroft Town Council and told the council and audience that he will charge $8 per extra pick up for each smaller blue container and $25 for each of the larger black dumpsters.

Following this conversation, an adjusted schedule regarding the hours of operation at the Moorcroft landfill was instigated. The landfill is open to the public now and the new hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As for the DEQ’s expressed opinion about the town not continuing association with TDS Sanitation to operate the landfill at this time, according to Moorcroft Mayor Dick Claar, their Casper office returned his call last week and approved the council’s verdict, assuring him that this decision will not affect DEQ’s determination to extend the cell.
