Moorcroft FCCLA members "Believe"

Moorcroft High School FCCLA joined more than 8500 FCCLA student leaders, members, and advisers at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA June 30 – July 4 to participate in the annual FCCLA National Leadership Conference (NLC).

The conference provided Moorcroft High School FCCLA students opportunities to come together for energized learning while listening to inspiring speakers, expanding leadership skills, sharpening talents and exploring career pathways. The theme of this year’s conference was “Believe in Yourself”, which inspired attendees to make goals and commit themselves to making a positive impact within their families, schools, FCCLA and communities.

Shelby Garoutte, Kaelixte LeFave, Camlyn Connally, and Faith Anderson from Moorcroft High School FCCLA participated in one of 30 Family and Consumer Sciences-related competitive events offered at NLC, including STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events and the FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl. These events support foundational, leadership and workplace skills in areas such as advocacy, culinary arts and entrepreneurship.

Competing with over 4500 STAR Event participants in Anaheim, Shelby Garoutte and Kaelixte LeFave received Bronze for their project in Chapter Review in Portfolio, Camlyn Connally received Silver for her project in Focus on the Children and Faith Anderson received Gold in National Programs in Action.

Taylor Reynolds, Wyoming FCCLA President, went to support all Wyoming FCCLA participants and to volunteer for STAR event competitions. Taylor was elected President of the Wyoming delegation in March at the State Leadership Conference.

Taylor said, “This year’s Nationals was so amazing. I learned so much through the state officer training and can’t wait to lead the state this next year with my state officer team.”

I would like to thank all of the generous people of Moorcroft who donated toward this trip. These students’ lives will be changed forever and it couldn’t happen without the support of our community and our school.
