Moorcroft Interfaith Community Food Pantry serves many

The Moorcroft Interfaith Community (MIC) has released the numbers for those served through their Food Pantry in November.

In November the MIC served 100 persons through the food pantry. Of those, six were senior citizens, 52 were minors and 42 were adults.

Additionally, the MIC, with the help of Moorcroft Chamber of Commerce, PreCorp Foundation, Diehl’s Super Market, Jim McLeland, Cornerstone Ministries, Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, First Presbyterian Church, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and many individuals help 45 families representing 192 individuals in our community by providing Thanksgiving Food Baskets.

But that is not all. Through the MIC’s Totes of Hope project, numerous food items have been provided to the Moorcroft School Nurse for distribution to hungry youth at school. In addition, the MIC has donated food and beverages to the Secret Squirrel Brigade’s Teen Room which is visited by approximately 50 youth each month.

So for the month of November, the Moorcroft Interfaith Community provided food to several hundred individuals. But it couldn’t have been done without the support of the community. We appreciate everyone who helped purchase, collect, box and distribute food for our pantry.

This year, the MIC Food Pantry has purchased and distributed over 15,000 pounds of food at a cost of $7500 to area residents. If you would like to help support this community program, please contact Randy or Rebecca Blakeman, Walt or Kathleen Campbell, Ginger Gerstner, Fonzy or Heather Haskell, Jody Bagley, Nancy Feehan, Cynthia Clonch or Pastor Monte.

The MIC pantry has officially been moved to the Moorcroft Town Center. Those who wish to receive food may come to the kitchen door of the old school on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 4-6 p.m. or by appointment. To make an appointment contact Pastor Monte at 217-251-1182, [email protected].

And don’t forget that the Crook County Senior Services food pantry beside Sharon’s Home Health is open from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
