Wolves wrestlers headed to state

The Wolves wrestling team wrestled in the 2A East regional tournament this past Saturday in Lingle. There they competed against ten other teams from the east to fight their way to a first place finish.

They had eight in the finals and six individual championships. The Wolves took 19 wrestlers to regionals and qualified 17 of them for state. Individual results were:

Champions: 120 Mica Herrera pinned his way to the finals where he won by major decision 12-3 to take the championship. 145 Parker Seeley pinned his way into the finals where he won by injury default from Wright to take the championship. 160 Hunter Garoutte went 3-0 winning his semifinals match by decision 4-3 to go into the finals where he won my major decision 13-2 to take the championship. 182 Rowdy Pfeil made his way into the semifinals where he pinned his opponent in 0:30 to advance into the finals where he won by pin in 0:34. 195 Dekken Mayer won by pin in the quarterfinals to advance into the semifinals where he won by decision 9-2 to move to the finals. There he won by pin in 3:03 to take the championship. 220 Parker Schlater went 3-0 pinning his first two matches in 0:08 and 0:32 to move into the finals where he won by injury default from Wright.

Second Place: 152 Darrian Black dominated his way into the finals pinning his first match in 1:42 and wining his semifinals match by major decision 20-9 to move into the finals. There he lost a tough match by decision 7-6 to take second place. 170 Wyatt Peters won his quarterfinals match by decision 7-4 and his semifinals match with a pin to advance into the finals where he lost by decision.

Third Place: 113 Sean Buckmiller went 3-1 losing in the semifinals making his way back into the placings by pinning all of his opponents to place third. 126 Randy Peters went 4-1 losing in the semifinals and making his way back into the placings where he won by decision 5-3 to place third.

Fourth Place: 113 Tyzer Isenberger went 2-2 winning his quarterfinals by pin in 3:55, losing in the semifinals and making his way back into the placings by winning his consolation semifinals match with a pin in 1:21. He lost his placing match to place fourth.

Others that helped the team points were: 120 Kaden Haynes who went 3-2, 126 Tucker Cook went 2-2, 132 Charmayne DeLong 3-2, Richie Allison 1-2, 138 Gavin Reynolds 1-2, 138 Jacob Anderson 2-2, 145 James Long 0-2 and 160 Sterling Norris 0-2.

Individual stats for the tournament as a whole were: Parker Schlater placed first for the fastest pin in 0:08 and Kaden Haynes placed second with a pin in 0:12. Mica Herrera placed second for having the most team points with 27 followed by Parker Seeley, Dekken Mayer and Parker Schlater tied for fourth place who all had 24 team points.

Darrian Black placed first for having the most single match points with 20 followed by Randy Peters who placed fifth with 17. For total match points, Randy Peters placed third with 32 and Darrian Black placed fourth with 30.

As a team, the Wolves placed first with 211.5 team points over second place Wright with 152.5 and third place Southeast with 134.5 team points. They also placed first for having the most pins in the least amount of time with 19 pins in 32:28 and for having the most total match points with 194.

Next up for the Wolves is the state tournament next Friday and Saturday in Casper at the event center starting at 9 a.m. where they will be going for their eighth consecutive win.
