MHS lights up for seniors

On Friday night, Moorcroft High School participated in the “Be the Light” campaign. The idea originated in Texas and was put out across the State to Wyoming Schools by the Wyoming High School Athletic Association. The idea behind the campaign was to turn on the football field lights on Friday, April 10 at 8:20 pm for 20 minutes.

Why the exact time? Because 8:20 p.m. in military time is 20:20, which was chosen to honor the Senior Class of 2020 as well as everyone involved in extracurricular activities that were cancelled and to recognize all those individuals who work in the medical field.

Those participating were asked to drive by the field and honk in support. A school reach and other social media platforms were utilized to let students and parents know.

Moorcroft had a great turnout of students and parents that showed a strong sense of support for the Be The Light Campaign and the reasoning behind it.

It really was a good event to get people out of their homes for a good cause and to show our appreciation to this year’s senior class, those affected by the cancellation of the extracurricular activities and individuals in the medical field who are on the frontlines helping others in these times.
