Neighbors helping neighbors

There are many stories of citizens and organizations that have and continue to reach out to neighbors during these trying times and this one comes from Pine Haven.

At the beginning of the quarantine, several residents who continued to drive to Gillette for work spontaneously called into town hall offering to collect groceries, medicines, etc for their elderly neighbors and ones with compromised health who could not travel.

As more individuals called into Town Hall asking if anyone needed anything, Pine Haven Clerk Marilyn Jensen and Treasurer Barb Hardy began to keep a list of these volunteers and they set up a system, “If anybody needs anything, they call us,” said Hardy. The message is then turned over to one of the currently seven people on the list, who then picks up the needed items and the needed supplies are delivered to the recipient’s door.

Hardy spoke candidly of the number of those requesting help right now, “We have had maybe a handful of people take advantage of it,” but, she added, “it will go on until this pandemic is over.”

Anyone within the Pine Haven area in need of these volunteer services is encouraged to contact Town Hall to avail themselves of this unprompted volunteer service offered by their fellows.
