Town greets new staff, says farewell to old

A special meeting of the Moorcroft Town Council was convened last Wednesday afternoon to fill two positions within the town departments that could not be held until the next regular meeting.

Of the five applicants interviewed by a committee of Mayor Dick Claar, Councilman Ben Glenn, Public Works Director Cory Allison and Clerk/Treasurer Cheryl Schneider, local resident Dave Elliott has been hired to fill the recently opened station of public works crewman.

Moorcroft Chief of Police Doug “Red” Lundborg officially retires from his office on Monday, May 11. After five years, he leaves this comment in a letter of resignation to the governing body:

“My employment with the Town of Moorcroft has been challenging to say the least, [but] I’ve enjoyed working back here and being at the helm. I started here 38 years ago and I’m finishing out my career here.”

After speaking extensively with Police Sergeant Bill Briant, the council has hired him as the next chief.

Initially, this appointment will be for a six month probationary period.
