Town recommended to get funding for MTC study

A few months ago, Moorcroft applied for a grant from SLIB through the Wyoming Business Council for $18,750 to hire a consulting firm to prepare a feasibility study on the improvement and growth of the Moorcroft Town Center (MTC). A higher funding amount than the original request has now been recommended to the State Lands and Investments Board.

The study would define potential economic growth opportunities, stimulate employment, prioritize cost-effective renovation projects and identify other possible building uses to benefit the Moorcroft community.

The recommendation from the business council has significantly surpassed the governing body’s hopes. They have suggested that SLIB grant the town the greater amount of $43,750 for an Economic and Community Development Plan instead of the feasibility study and also advises waiving the BRC program rule requiring planning grants to provide a 25% cash match and, in its place, allow a 12.5% cash match of $6,250, which is the amount the town has already set aside to match the originally requested funding.

This funding would not be limited to the MTC, but would be used to create a plan for the entire municipal business community. SLIB meets mid June via video conference and Moorcroft hopes to hear shortly thereafter.
