Moorcroft Police Report

June 1 - 7

On June 1, while on a traffic stop officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana. Upon completing investigation the driver was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and color of lights to the rear of vehicle.

On June 3, police received a report of a confrontation occurring at the rest area and was asked to go out and check on it. Officer contacted the complainant who stated that the couple who was arguing had left and that it was only a verbal argument. Officer advised dispatch and highway patrol.

On June 4, police received a report of a forgery. Officer went to Pinnacle Bank to speak with them about the incident, once there it was determined that the crime happened at the Gillette Branch. Officer contacted victim to advise them they needed to contact Gillette PD.

On June 5, police assisted Moorcroft Ambulance Service with an emergency call.

On June 5, police were waved down by a local resident who was worried that they had not seen someone since the week of Memorial Day. Officers conducted a welfare check and were able to find the person was safe. Nothing further.

On June 6, police were contacted by dispatch in reference to someone using 9-1-1 to report non-emergent complaints. Complainant was upset that a train was parked near their home and blowing the horn during the night. Complainant was told by dispatch not to call 9-1-1 for non-emergencies. Officers went to the residence and explained that there was nothing they could do about the train and explained the importance of not using 9-1-1 for non-emergencies. Officers also explained the possible penalties for doing so especially after being told not to. Officers then left the residence, nothing further.

On June 7, police were contacted in reference to an intoxicated male attempting to break into a room at the Cozy Motel. Upon arrival, Officer and a Crook County Deputy spoke with witnesses and made contact with the suspect. Suspect was arrested for Breach of Peace and transported to Crook County Detention Center in Sundance without incident.
