Two new faces at MK-8

MK-8 is happy to introduce two new faces amongst their team of great teachers, seventh/eighth grade English teacher Tessa Garman and STEM teacher Kaylee Zorc.

Tessa Garman

Garman was born and raised in the Devils Tower area, on the family ranch. Her dream has always been to live on the ranch and teach kids.

Her reason for becoming a teacher, Garman smiles, “I know it sounds cheesy, but I want to be the kind of teacher I needed when I was young and chose English specifically for that because it was something that I enjoyed but really struggled with. It’s very important we communicate and writing, reading and speaking is the foundation.”

Garman wants to bring a fun atmosphere to teaching English, “I truly believe if we’re not having fun, it’s not worth it.”

Kaylee Zorc

Zorc hails from Lemmon, SD and moved to the Moorcroft area from Crosby, ND where she taught second grade for five years. Her fiancé works for the Forest Service, so she says, “I decided to move down to where he’s at because there are no forests in Crosby.”

When the position of STEM teacher became available, MK-8 principal Theresa Brown chose Zorc’s application still on hand from last year’s interviews for a kindergarten teaching spot and called her to offer her the job.

“When I was in school,” Zorc explains her desire to teach youngsters, “I really struggled with learning and my teachers found different ways to help me so I want to do the same for other students and I love being around kids.”

She and her fiancé plan to marry in January.
