Rib Rally sells out

The Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) hosted their annual Rib Rally meal last Wednesday, serving 225 guests with a plate of ribs, beans, chips and watermelon. Co-organizer Elaine Buckmiller estimated 80% were bikers and the other 20% locals.

Care was taken to keep the 12 volunteers fresh through set up, serving and tearing down the canopies, tables, chairs, etc by working in smaller groups for two hours at a time; with this system in place, everyone was able to enjoy the experience and no one got too tired or over heated during the event.

The MACC provided the food, Deihl’s Supermarket owner Emanuel Chafee cooked the ribs and the fire department provided the tables and chairs.

The volunteers started serving at 11 a.m. and the last of the food sold out within moments of the 5 p.m. close.

Buckmiller voiced her reaction to this year’s Rib Rally, “We had a lot of interesting people and they were very friendly. It was a really enjoyable afternoon [and] a very successful event.”

She was very pleased to note that even the famous Wyoming wind held its breath until about 4:45 p.m. when it blew a canopy into the cement wall on the east side of Deihl’s parking lot.
