Lagoon project begins

Ordinance 3-2020 was read for the third and final time and subsequently adopted at Monday night’s meeting of the Moorcroft Town Council. This municipal law is the final step in releasing the RDF loan funds needed to match the grant paying for the mandatory first phase upgrade to Moorcroft’s lagoon.

The adoption of the ordinance was, for a brief time, stymied by the approval from council and subsequent approval by RDF, which will be carrying the town’s loan for the lagoon project, for payment of two outstanding engineering invoices totaling $167,849.

HDR Engineering and RCS, the company awarded the bid for the lagoon project, met in a pre-construction meeting last week and actual work was to begin Thursday, September 17. The first steps will include bypassing cell two and adding temporary aeration to cell one to compensate for the severely compromised existing system as the crew dredges the drained cell.
