Moorcroft Police Report

On September 8, police received a welfare check on a small child wearing a backpack walking toward Texas Trails Subdivision. Caller was worried something was wrong, or that the child was lost since school had just started and the child was walking away from the school and along the highway. Officer responded and found the child walking along the highway. The officer gave the child a ride to the school and there was able to identify the child and contact a parent about the situation.

On September 9, police were contacted about an animal complaint at the 12-plex apartment complex. Officer made contact with the owner of the dogs and advised of the complaint. Officer also advised there would be no more warnings as this has been an ongoing issue.

On September 9, officer assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol in locating a female at Coffee Cup Fuel Stop and detaining her for them to conduct an investigation. Officer found the female inside the building and escorted her outside where he then turned over custody of the detainee to WHP upon their arrival.

On September 10, police were notified of a concern regarding a young juvenile being left home alone. Officer went to the residence in question and spoke with the juvenile and their mother. Juvenile was not being left home alone. Call was unfounded and officer cleared.

On September 11, police were contacted in reference to a traffic crash on Crook Street. Officer spoke with all parties involved and gathered information for the traffic crash report. No citations were issued.

On September 12, officer was requested to assist Wyoming Highway Patrol with a DUI stop on Highway 16.

On September 12, police received a complaint of a barking dog. Officer spoke with the complainant and was able to locate the residence the disturbance was coming from. Officer attempted to make contact with the owner of the animal, but no one was home. Officer will follow up at a later time to advise of the complaint.

On September 12, police were contacted in reference to a stolen side by side. Officer spoke with the owner who provided a timeline of when the vehicle was stolen and all the information pertaining to the vehicle that was stolen.

On September 13, police were contacted in reference to a violation of a restraining order via a third party. Officer met with the victim and gathered the information pertaining to the violation. Officer will notify the court of the violation.

Stats: Four traffic warnings, two assists to other agencies, nine crosswalks/school zone, two animal issues, one record request, one welfare check, one stalking/harassment complaint, one VIN check, two suspicious activities, six garbage can violations, six extra patrols, 16 business checks, three junk ordinance violations, one theft of a motor vehicle, one traffic crash, four weed ordinance violations.
