Pfeil receives 2020 Gillette College President's Award

Gillette College graduate Andrea Pfeil is the recipient of the 2020 President’s Award. This award is presented each year to a Gillette College graduating sophomore based on cumulative GPA and their participation and leadership within both Gillette College and the broader community.

Pfeil is from Moorcroft, Wyoming, and is the first in her family to attend college. She received her Associate of Science in Engineering and Mathematics and plans to continue her education at Black Hills State University this fall where she will study engineering.

“Andrea has been described as one of the greatest ambassadors we’ve had at Gillette College,” said President Dr. Walt Tribley.

“She has excelled academically, led the Gillette College student body and volunteered on and off campus. We thank her for all of her hard work and leadership.”

During her time at Gillette College, Pfeil volunteered with several clubs and organizations both on and off campus, including serving as president of the Student Senate and participating in the Gillette College Student Activities Board, Math Club and Phi Theta Kappa. In addition, she volunteers for the Emergency Medical Service and was honored as Wyoming’s youngest Emergency Medical Technician for her service beginning at 14 years old.

“I am extremely honored to receive this award,” said Pfeil. “I’m grateful for the recognition I’ve received for my work and dedication to Gillette College. I’ve made lifelong friends, professional connections, great memories and learned some tough lessons along the way.”

Pfeil will give a speech during Gillette College’s 2020 Virtual Commencement Ceremony that will be premiered on Facebook September 18 at 6 p.m. Mountain Time.
