MIC food pantry reports incredible year

Moorcroft Interfaith Community (MIC) president Rev. Monte Reichenberg reports on the December and year-end numbers of people who have partaken of the generous bounty of food as well as an estimate of the amount of food provided.

Between the two MIC regular pantries and the Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies Crook County-wide Mobile Food Pantry, 608 families 2,269 individuals were assisted in December. Of that number, 956 were children (0-17), 786 adults (18-59) and 287 were seniors (60 and up).

For the year, the Moorcroft Interfaith Regular Food Pantry exceeded 100,000 pounds of food distributed at a cost of over $25,000, not counting the amount of food distributed through the Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies (WFBR) County Wide Mobile Food pantries.

“I’m not sure just how many pounds of food were distributed through the WFBR Mobile Pantries,” says Reichenberg, “But we distributed over 20,000 pounds of food in November alone. So they could easily have provided another 100,000 pounds of food for the year.”

“All you can do is give praise to our loving, providing God,” Reichenberg continued. “God has been so far ahead of us on all of this. We were forced to put things in place long before there was any inkling of COVID-19 and the resulting disruption of finances and the food supply chain. We have been blessed by so many donors and so many wonderful volunteers. It has been amazing!”
