MIC Food Pantry continues to serve Crook, Weston and Eastern Campbell Counties

The Moorcroft Interfaith Community (MIC) wishes to thank all the volunteers who have worked so hard in service to our community. Also a special thanks to PRECORP Foundation for their support for the monthly mobile pantries and the special pop-up pantry on May 28.

On May 6, the MIC pantry served 185 families representing 224 children (0-17), 241 adults (18-59) and 85 seniors (60 and up) for a total of 550 individuals. The mobile pantry on May 13 provided food for a whopping 324 families. This included 444 children, 466 adults and 140 seniors equaling 1050 individuals.

On May 20, 190 families were reached, which represented 215 children, 217 adults and 91 seniors for a total of 523. The three May pantries served a total of 2123 individuals from Crook, Weston and Eastern Campbell Counties.

A special pop-up pantry on May 28, which was sponsored by PRECorp Foundation and the Food Bank of Wyoming, distributed food boxes to those who participated. A unique fact about the pop-up pantries is that no intake information is gathered. Folk simply pull in, food is loaded into their vehicle and they pull out.

Because there is no information taken it is impossible to determine how many people were helped. But it was noted that 450 produce boxes were distributed that day.

The Moorcroft Interfaith Community wants to assure residents in Northeastern Wyoming that we will continue to provide food pantries throughout the summer. The next scheduled pantry is on June 24, 2021. Volunteers gather at 2 p.m. and distribution runs from 4 to 6 p.m.

The July schedule is as follows:

July 1, 2021 MIC Pantry with distribution from 4 to 6 p.m.

July 8, 2021 FB of Wyoming Mobile Pantry. Distribution from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m.

July 15, 2021 MIC Pantry with distribution from 4 to 6 p.m.

MIC would also like to announce that they will be providing Totes of Hope for kids again this summer. Currently, youth (18 and under) can go to the West Texas Trail Museum, the Moorcroft Senior Center or the Moorcroft Police Department and request a food grab bag.

Totes of Hope is offered during the summer to fill the gap left when youth are no longer able to receive school lunches.

“The goal of the Moorcroft Interfaith Community,” says MIC president Monte Reichenberg, “is to make certain that children in our community have something to eat on a regular basis.”
