Herders unable to pen Wolves

On Friday night, the Lady Wolves traveled to Glenrock to take on the Herders. The Junior Varsity Team took the floor first and set the tone for the evening. Early on, neither team was able to put much distance between the other, but in the second half, the Lady Wolves broke the game open.

With a combination of good defense and turning steals into points on the other end, Moorcroft was able to secure the 37-16 victory. Coach Hulm stated that he was impressed with the team’s defense and ability to get stops and convert those into baskets.

All of the girls played hard and communicated on the defensive end. That’s always great to see.

The next game up was the Lady Wolves Varsity. Moorcroft came out with energy in the first quarter and stymied the Herders with their pressure.

The second quarter was much of the same with the Wolves leading, 25-8 at the end of the first half. Glenrock got it going in the third quarter and went on a 17-1 run to close the game to 26-25.

The Wolves wouldn’t let them get any closer. They finished the third quarter on a positive note and then outscored Glenrock, 14-8 in the fourth quarter for a 50-33 victory.

I was really pleased with the first half and how we closed out the game in the fourth quarter. We had a dry spell in there coming out at half, but the girls really did a good job of regaining their composure and extending our lead. It’s always good to get a win on the road.

The Lady Wolves return to action on Tuesday, when they welcome the Hulett Red Devils to town. Come out and support your Moorcroft Wolves!
