Humes Memorial welcomes 284 wrestlers

The Wolves wrestling team hosted their annual Dylan Humes Memorial Mixer Tournament this past weekend. They were host to 23 teams and 284 wrestlers from all classes, 2A, 3A and 4A traveling from Wyoming, North Dakota and Montana, all in hopes of taking home the championship and the belt buckle.

It also held a girl's division where 26 girls came to wrestle a tournament of their own.

Friday was the start of the varsity and junior varsity tournaments. Saturday started with the semifinals on the varsity side and a second chance tournament for any wrestler who went out on the varsity side on Friday. The Wolves finished in sixth place, had two wrestlers in the finals, one champion in Dayne Humes and many placers.

Individual results were:

106 Dayne Humes pinned his way into the semifinals where he won by medical forfeit to advance into the finals. There, he met number 1 ranked wrestler in 4A from Natrona County, Kaden Orr, and won a tough match by decision, 6-2 to take the championship and buckle. 106 Kade Haynes and Weston Haskell both went 0-2 and did not place.

113 Cade Williams went 1-2 and did not place.

120 Shane Hannah went 3-2 and did not place. 120 Braydnn Terry went 5-2, losing in the second round by decision and wrestling his way back into the placings where he won by pin to place seventh. 120 Craig Robinson went 1-2 and did not place. 120 Wyatt Cook made his way into the quarterfinals where he lost by decision. From there, he wrestled his way back into the consolation semifinals where he lost by decision, 0-6 to move into the placing rounds where he lost by fall to place fifth.

126 Trenten Gray went 3-2 and did not place.

132 Preston Hedlund went 0-2 and did not place. 132 Tucker Cook went 1-2 and did not place. 132 Randy Peters went 4-2, making his way into the semifinals where he lost by decision, moving him into the consolation semifinals where he lost by decision, 1-6 to move into the placings. There he won by pin to place fifth.

138 Richie Allison went 0-2 and did not place.

145 Spencer Cuthrell went 2-2 and did not place. 145 Jacob Anderson went 1-2 and did not place.

152 Christopher Boardman went 3-2, winning three of his matches by pin, but did not place.

160 James Long went 3-2 and did not place. 160 Wyatt Allred went 2-2 and did not place.

170 Kevin Stone went 3-2 and did not place.

220 Oliver Gorsuch went 3-2, making it into the placing rounds where he won by pin to place seventh.

Girls:

Rebekah Anderson went 2-2, losing in the placing match by decision, 2-6 to place third.

Layla Elliott went 2-1, pinning her way to the finals where she met up with Alyse Richardson from Kelly Walsh. There she lost by fall to place second.

Lynsey Gray went 1-2, losing in the semifinals and in the consolation semifinals to not place.

On the JV side:

Wyatt Pennington went 3-0, winning his matches by pin to place first. Marcus James placed fourth.

High scorers for the Wolves were Dayne Humes with 28 team points, followed by Randy Peters with 17 and Wyatt Cook with 13. The team placed sixth out of 23 under first place Thunder Basin with 246.5, second place Sheridan with 245.0 and third place Natrona County with 217.5.

Next up for the Wolves is the Ron Thon tournament in Riverton, starting Friday morning.

Second Chance Tournament:

Saturday was the second chance tournament for those who got put out of the varsity tournament on Friday. Individual results were:

Kade Haynes went 2-0, winning both his matches with pins to place first. Weston Haskell, 1-2, placing third, winning his match with a pin. Cade Williams went 1-1. Craig Robinson went 2-1. Shane Hannah went 3-0, winning his matches with a pin and by decision to place first. Trenten Gray went 1-1. Wyatt Pennington went 1-1, winning his match with a pin in 0:31. Tucker Cook went 1-1, winning his match by decision, 8-5. Preston Hedlund went 1-1, winning his match with a pin in 1:24. Marcus James went 0-2. Richie Allison went 1-1, pinning his second match in 0:42. Jacob Anderson went 2-0, winning both matches with pins to place first. Spencer Cuthrell went 2-0, winning both matches with pins. Chris Boardman went 2-0, winning both matches by pin. Wyatt Allred went 1-2. James Long went 1-1. Kevin Stone went 1-1.
