On Thursday, the Wolves Boys Basketball team traveled to Sundance to take on the Bulldogs in their second conference game of the season. Both teams came out to play good defense in the first quarter and the Bulldogs took a 7-4 lead into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, it was back and forth and with two minutes to play and the score, 20-15. The Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run to take a 29-15 lead into halftime.

We gave up some offensive rebounds and then they hit a last second ¾ court shot right before half. In the third quarter, it was back and forth and the Bulldogs took a 42-26 lead going into the fourth.

The Wolves battled back and brought it to within nine points at one time, but, in the end, the Bulldogs were too much and went on to win, 55-38. We play well in stretches and we played well three out of the four quarters. Against good basketball teams like the Bulldogs, we know we have to play well all four quarters.

On Saturday, the Wolves traveled to Dayton to take on the #2 ranked Tongue River Eagles. The boys came out ready to play and played well in the first half.

They are an extremely deep and athletic team. We took care of the basketball and rebounded fairly well.

At the end of the first quarter, the Eagles were in the lead, 16-12. With the game 30-20 with 10 seconds to play, we missed a layup and they hit a three to end the first half with a 35-20 lead.

Again, it was a few plays here and there that we need to make that we just didn't make. In the second half, the Eagles wore down the Wolves and went on to win the game, 72-36.

They play 10-11 players deep and bring in fresh legs and press you the whole game. Our kids just wore down and the Eagles started rolling in the second half.

I thought we did some things well in the first half and can give this young team some things to build on. The Wolves are now 6-10 and 0-3 in conference play.

The Wolves will be back in action on Tuesday night when they play host to the #1 ranked Upton Bobcats!
