Wolves give their best against Eagles

On Friday, the Wolves boys basketball team hosted the Sundance Bulldogs in a conference clash. In the first quarter, the Wolves came out slow offensively as we struggled to find good shots and the Bulldogs took a 9-4 lead.

In the second, Moorcroft finally got it going a little and trailed, 20-15, going into half. I thought we defended their big kid pretty well and our defense kept us in the game.

In the second half, the Bulldogs came out and took a 37-26 lead going into the last quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Wolves fought all the way to the end, but came up a little short as the Bulldogs went on to win, 51-42.

I thought we did some good things defensively, but their big kid really hurt us in the third quarter as we struggled with their size.

On Saturday, the Wolves hosted the #3 ranked Tongue River Eagles. We knew this was going to be a tough game against the #1 team in our conference.

The boys came out ready to play and led for most of the first half. The Eagles scored right before half to take a 30-28 lead.

In the third quarter, the Eagles came out and extended their lead to 51-37. The boys fought hard and kept it a really good game in the fourth, but, in the end, the Eagles went on to win, 72-56.

They’re a really athletic deep team and hit the offensive boards really hard. I thought we put together our best game of the season and played with a really good team.

This was our last conference game and we will be headed to regionals in Pine Bluffs on Thursday. We will face this team in the first round of Regionals and this should give our kids some confidence. Go Wolves!
