Council marks moment of change

"We [council members] had some good conversation about it and the new appointee will be Dustin Petz."

Moorcroft Mayor Ben Glenn opened the first piece of town business on Monday's agenda with a unanimous acceptance of Petz as a member of the council.

Newly appointed Petz was subsequently sworn into office and took his seat amongst the governing body.

Petz has been a familiar face at the Moorcroft High School as a counselor and well respected on the school sports field. He later shared this comment: "I am hoping to gain a better understanding of the workings and what is happening in Moorcroft. I want to be able to serve the citizens and community to continue to make Moorcroft the great community that it is."

Meanwhile, many citizens of Moorcroft who are familiar with the years of dedication shown by Dick Claar to the town and residents joined together Monday night before the regular council meeting convened for an hour of reminiscence and an exchange of uplifting conversation.

Seats were quickly filled and guests indulged in cupcakes, cookies and drinks as Claar and his family sat with long time friends. As the hour came to a close, Claar stood and addressed his company, saying, "Thank you everyone for supporting me through the years and coming down."

He then gave his full support for his former mayor pro-tem and current appointed mayor, Ben Glenn, stating, "I turned it over to a good man."

Claar took his leave as a star usually does: a little early.
