County artist presents Black Hills Art Gala

Alexandra Hansen, an artist from Aladdin, invites the community to an elegant event this March that aims to introduce the work of new artists from around the Midwest. The Black Hills Art Gala will take place at the Matthews Opera House in Spearfish.

Hansen, a wildlife artist, is among the talent that will be showcased in the event.

"I organized this art gala in an effort to bring a few new artists to the area," she says. "It's a beautiful variety of artists from Nebraska, Colorado, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming."

Hansen will be joined by eight other artists, including Jesse Brown Nelson, Linda Donlin, Rachel Brown Lee, Gaylene Fortner, Anna Kenchel, Rilie Tanè, Kelsie Moore and William Lopez.

"We have nine artists from across the midwest who will be displaying their art from water color and pyrography artists to photographers," she says.

The event will be a formal art gala, scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on March 18. Wine, beer and light appetizers will be available courtesy of Killian's, with live music featuring local musicians. 605 Media will be videoing the evening and Black Hills Photography will be taking red carpet pictures.

Works by the nine artists will be available for purchase on the evening, says Hansen, "as well as silent auction paintings to benefit Grayson Chapeau and his ongoing battle with cancer."
