Regular Meeting of the Council

Monday, October 24, 2022

Town Council Present: Mayor Ben Glenn, Councilmen Paul Smoot, Dusty Petz, Austin Smith, and Dale Petersen.

Town Representatives Present: Deputy Clerk Jesse Connally, Chief of Police Bill Bryant, and HDR Engineer Heath Turbiville.

Councilman Dale Petersen motioned to approve the consent agenda with Councilman Smith seconding, all ayes, motion carried.

Deputy Clerk Connally gave the Clerk’s report. Clerks Office is working on finalizing the audit with Casey Petersen and they plan to attend the November meeting.

Mayor Glenn gave the Public Works report. Boilers were started at the MTC. After interviewing for the part time landfill attendant position, Director Allison recommends hiring Rick Reed for the position. Councilman Smith motioned to hire Rick Reed effective October 25, 2022, 10 hours a week plus 8 hours on the 3rd Saturday of every month for $15.00 an hour with Councilman Petz seconding, all ayes, motion carried. Councilman Petz added to Public Works report that Steve Gerry will be redoing the floor at the MTC after Halloween and the gym will need to be closed for a week to let it cure. Discussion was had regarding fencing quotes for cemetery.

Chief Bryant gave the Police Report. Chief Bryant requested a motion to fix the 2019 police car’s front-end damage. Councilman Petersen motioned to approve the repair the 2019 Durango’s front-end damage, Councilman Petz seconded, all ayes, motion carried. New patrol vehicle is finished at ComTech, Chief Bryant and Officer Curley will pick it up on October 28. Chief Bryant will set up a meeting with Digital Ally on November 9, at 6:30pm before the next scheduled council meeting to discuss camera purchase.

Heath Turbiville, HDR Engineer, gave the Engineer Report.

Old Business: Mayor Glenn asked Council if they looked over the purposed garbage rates, Resolution 11-2022. Councilman Petersen motioned to approve Resolution 11-2022 setting garbage rates, Councilman Smith seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Councilman Petersen motioned to go into Executive Session at 7:17 to discuss personnel, Councilman Petz seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Regular meeting of the Council reconvened at 7:25 pm. No action was taken from Executive Session. With no further business to discuss Councilman Smith motioned to adjourn at 7:25 pm, Councilman Petz seconded, all ayes, motion carried.
