Moorcroft Police Report

December 12 - January 1

On December 12, Police were called to Moorcroft High School in reference to a minor in possession of tobacco product. Student was cited for minor in possession of tobacco. Nothing further.

On December 18, police were contacted regarding prank phone calls. Officer contacted the reporting party and took a report of the incident.

On December 21, police were called for a report of a man dressed in black carrying a gun walking around the parking lot of Cozy Motel. Officer searched the area and was unable to locate anyone who fit the description given to police. Officer spoke with the reporting party and advised to call again if the male returned.

On December 21, upon request police responded to Pine Haven to assist the Crook County Sheriff’s Office with traffic control during a structure fire.

On December 21, police were called to Cozy Motel for a Breach of Peace complaint. Officer spoke with the person causing the disturbance and they agreed to keep the noise down. Nothing further.

On December 21, police were requested to do a welfare check on an intoxicated pedestrian out in the cold. Officer contacted the subject and called EMS to check on the individual who was complaining of leg pain. After EMS checked subject, they were transported to their residence. Nothing further.

On December 24, police assisted Moorcroft EMS on an emergency call.

On December 24, police were called for a report of a man carrying a gun standing outside a room at the Cozy Motel. Officer searched the area and located a worker who was setting up a fence outside of the rooms. Officer spoke to the complainant. Nothing further at this time.

On December 27, police assisted Moorcroft EMS on an emergency call for a Life Alert. Officer contacted the owner of the Life Alert, and it was determined there was no emergency. Officer advised dispatch to cancel EMS. Nothing further.

On December 28, police were called to the Cozy Motel in reference to a suspicious person walking around with a firearm. Officer searched the area and was unable to locate anyone who was a possible threat to others. Officer contacted the complainant, who advised that they were diagnosed bipolar and schizophrenic and had stopped taking their medications. Officer advised complainant of the severity of misuse of 911 and false reporting. Nothing further.

On December 28, Police were called regarding two dogs running at large near the Moorcroft Town Center. Clerk took the descriptions of the animals and advised the officer on duty. Officer looked for animals while on patrol and was unable to locate them. Nothing further.

On December 28, upon request officer assisted Crook County Sheriff’s Office Deputy on a traffic stop. Officer remained on scene until assistance was no longer needed.

On December 30, police located a REDDI vehicle. Officer stopped the vehicle and observed no indications of intoxication. Officer advised Driver to travel safely and cleared from the stop.

On December 31, police were contacted regarding a hit and run. Officer contacted the reporting party and took the description of the vehicle and pictures of the damage. Officer will keep an eye out for the vehicle described and the reporting party will call if they see the vehicle again.
