Community invited to join Moorcroft Interfaith Community

The Moorcroft Interfaith Community(MIC) meets regularly every month to discuss events that are happening in the community and to solicit assistance when needed and appropriate. MIC is a non-denominational oranization designed to assist not only those in need, but to offer opportunities for people to meet in friendship and camaraderie.

Several churches in the Moorcroft community have gathered since MIC’s conception. Every church in the Moorcroft area is invited to attend these friendly gatherings.

Serving on the Board of MIC is President Reverend Monte Reichenberg of First Presbyterian Church, Vice-President Reverend Randy Blakeman of Cornerstone Ministires, Treasurer Elder Walt Campbell of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,and Secretary Cynthia Clonch of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

MIC meets each month at 6 p.m. at Blakeman Propane’s conference room to conduct business and enjoy a potluck dinner; date of subsequent meeting determined each month.

MIC is instrumental in promoting many of the events in the Moorcroft community. On the agenda this month is QPR Training for Suicide Prevention in conjunction with the Be Well Coalition, Crook County Mental Health and the R.A.M. Center on October 14 at 6 p.m. at the R.A.M. Center. There will be another QPR Training on October 28 at 7 p.m. at West Texas Trail Museum.

MIC participates in the MIC Food Pantry and Totes of Hope by providing provisions for those who need extra food and supplies. MIC assists the First Presbyterian Church with the Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce with the Christmas Basket Project.

The community is invited to assist in these acts of kindness by donating canned goods and non-perishable itmes. The MIC Food Pantry is opened on the first and third Thursday of each month from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church.

MIC joins with Crook and Weston County Public Health and Crook County at Risk to help develop and implement a plan of action for the county in times of disaster and emergency.

This year MIC will conduct a Service of Remembrance, honoring and remembering loved ones who have died in our community. By organizing this event, MIC hopes to help bring comfort and peace to the many families who have experienced great loss in the recent year. This service is scheduled for November 17 at 6 p.m. at the Moorcroft Town Center.

Other events MIC assumes include hosting the Music and Nativity Extravaganza each December and the Living Last Supper and Choir Presentation on Good Friday. This year’s Music Extravaganza will commence on December 8 at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Moorcroft Town Center. The date for the Living Last Supper will be announced in the future.

The Moorcroft Interfaith Community extends an invitation to the public to join this active organization whose purpose is to bring worshipping communities together in unity for the benefit of its citizens. The desire is to promote fellowship, citizenship and to assist civil authorities in coordinating reponse to local as well as widespread emergenices either natural or manmade.

The next MIC meeting is October 17 at 6 p.m. Blakeman Propane. Chili and cinnamon rolls will be served. Please bring a side dish of your choice and join in friendship and fun.
