Sensational start for Wolves wrestlers

The Wolves competed at the Lusk Invitational wrestling tournament this past Friday and came away with a first place finish as a team and five individual champions. This was the first tournament of the year, which ran as a round robin tournament, giving the wrestlers many matches and the opportunity to wrestle every wrestler in their bracket.

Individual results were:

Champions – 113 Sean Buckmiller, 152 Parker Seeley, 170 Wyatt Peters, 195 Rowdy Pfeil and HWT Parker Schlater. All champions won by pinning every opponent they faced. For the tournament as a whole, Parker Schlater had the most pins in the least amount of time with five pins in 2:42, followed by Wyatt Peters with five pins in 3:52 and Parker Seeley with five pins in 5:03.

Second Place – 120 Mica Herrera. For the tournament, he also had the most single match points in a match with 23.

Third Place – 152 Dakota Tobin, who went 4-1 winning three of his matches by pin and another by decision; 182 Dekken Mayer, who went 3-2, winning all three by pins and losing two by decision.

Fourth Place – 132 Randy Peters, who went 3-2 winning his three matches by pin.

Fifth Place – 120 Kaden Haynes went 3-2; 126 Tyzer Isenberger went 3-2; and 160 Darrian Black went 3-2.

Seventh Place – 120 Tucker Cook, 138 Charmayne DeLong, 160 Hunter Garoutte and HWT Wyatt Jarman.

Other placers were 120 Braxten Buckmiller, who went 1-4; James Long, who had to injury forfeit out; and Gavin Reynolds, who went 2-3.

The Wolves finished in first place out of 16 teams with 264.5 points above second place Newcastle/Upton with 216 points and third place Southeast with 166 points. Scoring the most team points for the wolves were Wyatt Peters and Rowdy Pfeil with 35 followed by Parker Seeley with 34.

As a team, they also had the most pins in the least amount of time with 45 pins in 76:17 and also the most total match points with 107.

The Wolves will continue their season this Friday and Saturday at the Pat Weede Invitational Dual Tournament in Gillette, at Thunder Basin High School. Start time is 11:30 a.m. on Friday. They will wrestle four duals on Friday and three on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
