Moorcroft Chapter Adviser participates in National FCCLA training

Felicia Sams from Moorcroft High School FCCLA attended the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) 2020 Chapter Adviser Summit (CAS) in Washington, D.C., January 31 to February 2. Advisers from across the nation participated in professional development opportunities designed specifically for Family and Consumer Sciences education teachers looking to excel in the classroom and in FCCLA.

Attendees were able to experience Washington, D.C., for the 2020 National Leadership Conference firsthand, receive up-to-date professional development training, share ideas and network.

Throughout CAS, attendees heard from key FCCLA partners, learned how to integrate National Programs into the classroom and gathered new ideas for fundraising, connecting with stakeholders and preparing students for competition. FCCLA advisers also received the opportunity to network with fellow FCS educators and learn more about developing leadership in students and exploring the career pathways of Human Services, Hospitality and Tourism, Education and Training and Visual Arts and Design.

Those in attendance at CAS had the opportunity to share their own best practices with others and to brainstorm ways to best utilize their skills, experiences and resources as an FCCLA adviser to make a difference for their students.

Felicia Sams, Adviser, from Moorcroft High School FCCLA said, "Thank you so much to Moorcroft High School Principal Mrs. Becky Waters for allowing me to go and to the Crook County School Board for helping me get to Washington, D.C. I learned so much from this experience and from fellow Family and Consumer Science teachers. This experience allowed me to gain more information on National Family Career and Community Leaders of America Leadership Conference that will be held in Washington, D.C. in July 2020."
