Community invited to help celebrate Graduation Day

Graduation for the Moorcroft High School Seniors will go ahead this Sunday. Though the Covid 19 pandemic has altered the manner of the celebration, the virus has not cancelled this milestone for the class of 2020.

Graduates and their guests are cordially invited to the 2020 Graduation Day celebration in the parking lots south of the Moorcroft High School Sunday, May 17 with the affair starting at 1 p.m.

The number of parking spaces designated for each student and company will be determined by spots available, only one automobile to a space and those in larger vehicles will be directed to the rear of the lot and smaller cars will be set to the front facing a temporary stage.

The valedictorian, salutatorian and senior class president will orate before giving place to the school representatives.

As each graduate’s name is called, they will leave their vehicle and step to the stage where the principal, board member and superintendent will present their diploma. Parents are allowed to step from their car at that time to take a picture, but are asked to immediately return, allowing the next family the same opportunity.

Graduates are asked to arrive wearing their graduation attire and not leave their vehicles until their name is called.

While in their cars, people are encouraged to tune into KYDT 103.1 to listen and watch the event streamed live over Facebook. MHS will also provide free pictures for each family taken by a school photographer.

Everyone is encouraged to decorate their cars and join the parade immediately after the ceremony.

Designated parking spaces are assigned to seniors when they check out the week of May 11 along with the parade route.
