Towns prepare for spring

Moorcroft and Pine Haven schedule annual clean-up days

Amid April snows, Moorcroft and Pine Haven are getting ready for spring.

Moorcroft

Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) is coordinating Spring Cleanup Day with the help of volunteers from the public and Moorcroft High School picking up yard waste and other refuse from the curbs around town on Thursday, May 6.

The group will be meeting in the south parking lot of the high school at 8:15 a.m. for their dispatch.

Co-organizer Elain Buckmiller says that there is a fleet of trailers and trucks donated for the event, but anyone who wants to volunteer their hands and backs are most welcome as well.

Lunch for the volunteers will be provided by Pinnacle Bank at their parking lot at noon.

The free dump day that is an advantage to so many town residents is set for Saturday, May 15.

Pine Haven

The Pine Haven Recreation Board and the local senior citizen company have set up Pine Haven Cleanup Day focusing on the Harwood Baseball Field in the morning and the cemetery in the afternoon.

Volunteers will meet at the community center at 10:30 a.m. before walking to the ball field to clear any rocks and clumps, so co-organizer Kristi Speed suggests volunteers bring their rakes.

The hosts will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs with sides to the cleanup crews around noon before taking a census on going on to the cemetery to give a little more time for a bit of care for that property as well.

Pine Haven residents are encouraged to volunteer for this fun opportunity to help get the town ready for spring.
