The rest area bulletin board west of Moorcroft is sporting a new look

The Moorcroft Community Development Committee (MCDC) almost 30 years ago received the keys to the display board and have ever since made a point of sharing just a bit of the town’s history on the board with passers-by.

The 48-year-old rest area also hosts the marker identifying the old Texas Trail that ran through this territory more than 100 years ago with brands from the cattle and sheep ranches that came to settle in the area pressed into the statue.

In 2004, the site was closed for remodeling for the first time in its history and the committee was contacted by WYDOT for input on content for the new information windows. The site was again closed in 2020 and MCDC member Ruthele Newby took this opportunity to create a new display for people’s enjoyment and education about the area through which they travel.
