Lack of participation leaves little direction

The town of Moorcroft hosted a public meeting last Wednesday for residents to voice their opinions on how the town is being managed and what areas they think need more attention, etc. This survey is being conducted by DownTown Redevelopment Services under the auspices of Rural Community Consulting.

With the compilation of this and other information, the company hopes to have a summary and suggestions for the future health and growth of Moorcroft in September, according to Mayor Dick Claar.

However, participation in this endeavor was low, with just seven attending. Mayor Dick Claar later stated, “It’s too bad if they didn’t participate, because it would be helpful; it gives their elected officials some direction on what people want and need. It’s primarily to know what people would like to see in Moorcroft or what we’re doing wrong so we can correct it.”

Company representative Ben Levenger had told the mayor informally that streets are one of the concerns to many of those who have participated in the surveys. Claar replied, “I’m sure they are, but that’s a large capital expenditure and I don’t know how much we can do, but it’s something to keep an eye on.”

This discussion precedes the feasibility study of the Moorcroft Town enter (MTC).
