Drawing lines

Work began within the C Bar Subdivision last Wednesday to confirm the accuracy of the 1978 schematics of the town-owned water lines. Mayor Karla Brandenburg was onsite following the schematics and watching as TJ Gideon, using equipment lent by the developers, dug in certain spots to the prescribed depth to ascertain their authenticity.

"We worked together on this project; it was our waterline, but the new developer provided the equipment to help us out," she said.

This waterline has been operable through the years, Brandenburg stated later. "It has always been part of the water-loop of the town," she said; however, because the area was not yet incorporated as a township, the maps have never been part of the town's purview.

Ed Scott, an engineer who is a volunteer with the Pine Haven Fire Department bought the original 1978 infrastructure plans, describing the water lines under the town, from a Timm & Associates auction.

Scott subsequently granted permission to Pine Haven Mayor Karla Brandenburg to make copies of the map as the town records have not included such diagrams of the older placement of pipes.

"We only had a guess and did not have 'as builts' on that section of town. Some of the lines were exactly the way they showed on the plans and some were not, so this will benefit the town in the future as we will know where the lines actually are now instead of having to guess."

The mayor expressed her satisfaction with this fortuitous find and stated that the now-confirmed line placements will be added to the subdivision developers' final plat.
