Moorcroft Police Report

January 10 - 23

On January 10, police were called regarding a traffic complaint that took place on a private road. Officer contacted both parties involved.

On January 11, police were called to Coffee Cup for a report of a suicidal male. Officer arrived and contacted the male in question. Subject advised officer he had attempted to kill himself twice that day by drinking bleach. EMS arrived on scene to transport the subject to the hospital. Nothing further.

On January 12, police assisted Moorcroft EMS on an emergency call.

On January 12, police were brought some items that were left behind at the Car Wash by a traveler.

On January 12, police were contacted about an aggravated battery that took place at Deere Haven. Investigation is continuing.

On January 12, police were contacted regarding a traffic crash near the intersection of Yellowstone Ave and Lincoln Street. Officer arrived on scene and spoke with the drivers of both vehicles involved. State of Wyoming accident report. One citation issued.

On January 12, police were notified of a counterfeit bill being passed at a local business. Officer made contact with the employee who gave the officer the counterfeit bill. Nothing further at this time.

On January 13, police conducted a civil standby while a landlord checked on a rental property.

On January 14, police were called for a trespass complaint. Officer spoke with the complainant and received the names of those they wanted trespassed from their property. Trespass notices will be issued. Nothing further.

On January 14, police served a 30-day junk ordinance violation.

On January 15, police assisted someone who had locked their keys in their vehicle. Officer was able to gain entry to the vehicle for the owner.

On January 16, while conducting a traffic stop for a speeding violation, driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and cited for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Nothing further.

On January 16, police spoke with a vehicle owner about the 14 day parking ordinance.

On January 17, police were notified of a vehicle crash that had happened the night before. Investigation is ongoing.

On January 18, police were contacted regarding a civil issue. Officer took a report of the complaint but due to the civil nature of the issue was unable to assist the complainant. Complainant was able to get a copy of the police report for insurance purposes.

On January 18, police were called for a welfare check on a local resident. Officer contacted the resident who was fine. Nothing further.

On January 18, police were called for a welfare check on a local resident who was unable to be reached by family. Officer contacted the resident who was fine and stated they would call their family member.

On January 19, police were called for a welfare check on a local resident. Officer was able to contact the resident.

On January 19, police were contacted regarding unauthorized bank transactions. Officer contacted the complainant who stated they believed their girlfriend had taken money from their account without their permission. Officer took all of the information. Investigation is continuing.

On January 19, police assisted someone who had locked their keys in their vehicle. Officer was able to gain entry to the vehicle for the owner.

On January 20, police received a welfare check request on a child. Officer was able to contact the child at the Moorcroft K8 and everything appeared to be fine. Officer also went to the child’s home and spoke with the parent regarding the request. Nothing further.

On January 21, police received several complaints of garbage cans being knocked over and other suspicious activity in the area of Yellowstone and Little Horn. Officer was able to gather video footage from the car wash which showed 3 teen looking males messing with stuff in the area of the 12-plex and car wash. Investigation is continuing.

On January 21, police assisted a resident into their vehicle so they could go seek medical attention. Nothing further.

On January 21, police assisted Crook County Sheriff’s Office with a VIN verification out on Country Lane.

On January 22, police assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol during a DUI arrest.

On January 23, police assisted someone who had locked their keys in their vehicle. Officer was able to gain entry to the vehicle for the owner
