Keyhole fireworks get the go-ahead

The Fireworks Over the Lake celebration has received a green light from the state fire warden to move forward this year. The excitement starts at dark on Saturday, July 2.

The pyrotechnic display is the largest yearly fundraiser for the Pine Haven Volunteer Fire Department with planning by both the department and town council started months in advance. The around 40 different types of firework bundles have been ordered at a cost of approximately $10,000, according to fire chief TJ Gideon.

Fred Negebauer and associates is volunteering their time and expertise setting the display in place and firing the fireworks off throughout the night.

Gideon invites everybody, saying, “We’re going to have a really good display so come out and watch it and enjoy yourselves!”

This event is a big crowd pleaser with many attendees so guests are advised to arrive early to get a good spot; the park is already at capacity and will fill early as those who are going to be there specifically for the celebration arrive.
