NEWWA derby attracts scores of fishermen

The North Eastern Wyoming Walleye Association (NEWWA) annual Fall Classic Fishing Derby on the waters of the Keyhole Reservoir entertained 121 fishermen of all ages in 44 boats Saturday and Sunday, eight of whom were between three and 17 years.

Event organizer Kelly Lang said of the weekend, "Good turn-out for hunting season and the weather was great. The fishing was slow but the tournament went well."

First place for Big Fish Standing on Saturday went to Al/Eric Tobin and Corey Heymeyer with their largest catch coming in at 27.5 inches and 8.06 pounds; second place, John McGahan, Paul Johnson and Dick Bentley, 26.5 inches and 7.12 pounds; and third, Frosty Williams Keith Riggle and Skylar Williams, 24.75 and 5.66.

Sunday's winners were Larry/Justin Liggett and Todd Jewitt in first place with 30.75 inches and 11.74 pounds; John McGahan, Paul Johnson and Dick Bentley in second, 29.25 and 9.94; and Dusty/Dick Evenson and Dean Dittus in third place, 27.75 and 8.32.

Anglers caught an amazing 121 weighable walleye on Saturday and 124 on Sunday. All fish caught were subsequently released with no casualties on either side.
