Public Works fixes up Elm Street

Going into cold weather, Pine Haven Public Works Director Sunny Schell and her crewman Dwight Dierking cleared the area of Elm Street as well as a small portion of one residential driveway that had been compromised by the long-time leak that breached the asphalt recently.

A couple years ago, a contractor had repaired a leak about ten feet below the existing road, but the line had subsequently degraded and began to leak. Over the years, the water climbed up to the substrate, compromising the solid foundation of that area of Elm Street.

After about a month with a temporary fix, the team dug out the loose dirt, repacked the rock base level tightly with a roller before recovering the restored substrate with gravel last Tuesday. According to Mayor Karla Brandenburg, "It should be good to go."
