Wolves wrestle in Belle Fourche Invitational

Both the boys’ and girls’ Wolves wrestling teams traveled to Belle Fourche, SD this past weekend to compete in the Belle Fourche Invitational.

There, the boys competed against 222 wrestlers from 20 teams and the girls competed with 16 teams and 84 girls. The boys came away with a fourth-place finish and the girls placed tenth.

Individual results were:

106 – Zack Lowrey went 0-2 and Kade Haynes 1-2.

113 – Weston Haskell 1-2; Adam Cuthrell 0-2; and Dayne Humes went 4-1, winning his first two matches by pin, lost in the semifinals by decision and won by pin in the consolation semifinals to put him in the placings. There he won by decision 4-3 to place third.

120 – Kaden Haynes 2-2; Shane Hannah 0-2; and Cade Williams 0-2.

126 – Braydnn Terry 3-2, pinned his way into the semifinals where he lost by decision to move into the consolation semifinals. There, he won by decision 7-4 and lost in the placing round by decision, 6-5 to place fourth; Cole Cantu 0-2.

132 – Tucker Cook went 2-2, winning his first match by major decision, 14-6 and his consolation match by pin; Trenten Gray, 4-2, won his first match by pin, lost in the second round by decision, won his consolation rounds to put him in for placings, where he won by decision, 8-4, to place fifth; Wyatt Cook went 2-2.

138 – Richie Allison, 2-2, winning both his matches by pin; Craig Robinson, 1-2, winning his first match with a pin; and Chayce Buckner, 3-2, winning all his matches by pin.

145 – Trenton Sheehan, 4-2, won his matches by pin and major decision, lost in the semifinals and the consolation semifinals to move into the placings, where he won by decision, 5-4 to place fifth; Jacob Anderson went 0-2.

152 – Marcus James went 2-2, winning his first match by pin and his second match by decision, 12-6; Chris Boardman, 3-1, pinned his way into the finals, where he lost by decision to place second; Truck Lowrey, 0-2.

160 – Spencer Cuthrell went 0-2; and Braizyn Humpal went 2-2, winning both his matches by pin.

170 – James Long, 3-3, winning his first match by pin, losing his next match by fall, winning his consolation rounds to get into placings, where he lost by decision to place sixth.

182 – Wyatt Allred went 1-2.

195 – Dane Connally went 1-2.

220 – Oliver Gorsuch went 4-2, winning his first round by pin, lost in the quarterfinals, won the next two consolation rounds in sudden victory and by pin to put him in for placing. There, he won by pin to place fifth.

The Wolves boys team finished in fourth place with 136 team points. High scorers were Christopher Boardman with 22 team points followed by Dayne Humes with 20 and Oliver Gorsuch with 15 points.

Overall stats for the tournament, as a whole: placing first for the fastest pin was Braizyn Humpal with a seven-second pin followed by Wyatt Allred with a nine-second pin. The team placed second for the most pins in the least amount of time at 50:04.

The girl’s individual results were:

113 – Rebekah Anderson went 2-1, placing her second.

120 – Nadia Harding went 2-2, winning both her matches by pin, placing fourth.

126 – Janika Baron went 0-2.

The girls placed tenth as a team.

Next up for the Wolves wrestling team is the duals in Lovell on Friday night and the Greybull tournament on Saturday. Their next home event will be on Thursday, February 9 for the Powder River Conference Duals against Wright, Sundance, Hulett and Tongue River, starting at 3 p.m. at the Moorcroft High School Gym.
