Moorcroft Wolf brings home Governor's Award

Oliver Gorsuch, a sophomore at Moorcroft High School, was presented with the 2022 Governor's Award by the Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association (WAWA) last weekend, at the USA state wrestling tournament, in Casper. He was recognized in the 16 and under division for his athletic excellence in Greco-Roman wrestling.

Oliver placed fifth in Folkstyle at the Wyoming high school state tournament in 2022, third at the WAWA Kids state and first in the Montana Open. In freestyle, he placed second at the WAWA kids state, fifth at WAWA Juniors' state and went 1-2 at the Cadet Nationals in Fargo.

In Greco-Roman, he was third at WAWA's junior state and at Junior Nationals, he went 4-2, just missing the medal round.

Oliver is with the Moorcroft Mat Masters wrestling club and has wrestled with them for the past five years, attending numerous USA tournaments. He has wrestled for the Moorcroft Junior High and High School teams since the seventh grade.

In 2023, he placed third at the Wyoming High School state tournament and second at Junior State in Greco. He will be attending the Junior Nationals tournament in Fargo this summer to wrestle both Freestyle and Greco.
