Pine Haven Days

The day was warm with a fine breeze as families and friends sat visiting and kids found their best spots to grab up any candy thrown their way; thus began the Pine Haven Days Labor Day Weekend.

In the parade, Emily and Bill Smith led as Grand Marshals, waving and throwing the first candy of the event.

Best Cart was won by Bob and Tammie McGovern; Randy Blakeman entered two of his fine rides and both tied as Best Classic Car; and Best Float went to Collins Communications.

As the parade went by, Preston Bryan and Larry Glenn were busy grilling up hamburgers and hotdogs and soon others arrived to set up the sides before the lines of hungry participants and observers started moving in and sitting under the shady canopies to enjoy their much-deserved respite.

After lunch, kids were able to play on the popular bouncy houses as the evening brought karaoke and some great tunes to close the night.

Before the weekend ended, Sunday morning saw the Pine Haven Volunteer Fire Department serving around 60 guests with a great pancake feed and a tired, but happy recreation board member Missy Norton, who managed the entire event.
