Loren King

Loren King, 89, of Moorcroft, Wyoming, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 21, 2023. A graveside service was Friday, September 29, 2023, at Greenwood Cemetary in Upton, Wyoming.

Loren Ivan King was born on March 13, 1934, in Thornton, Wyoming, the son of Ivan and Norma (Degner) King. He had three brothers: Larry, Robin and Lyle, and a sister Lorna. He joined the United States Marines in 1953.

Loren married Clarice Phillips on January 23, 1958. Clarice passed away in 2005. Loren met Tracy McGee, and they were married on November 30, 2018. He and Tracy were together for 18 years before his death.

His life was spent as an owner/operator of his and his sons' trucking company. He was also an excellent mechanic, and he did his own repairs. Aside from his mechanizing, he enjoyed iron collecting, selling and making tools out of the iron.

Loren's hobbies were guns. He collected several. He was an excellent marksman and won first place in many shooting contests. His family often joined him at these shooting events.

He had a passion for reading and enjoyed informational and DIY books. He was obsessed with newspapers. His only request when someone was planning to come visit was for them to bring a newspaper.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Tracy; his sons, Wes (Lynn) Paschall of Upton, Karl (Cindy) Paschall of Upton and Kenny King of Upton; his daughter, Kathy King (Steve Garfine) of Gillette, Wyoming; eight grandchildren, over 20 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild; his brothers, Larry (Jennette) King of Ten Sleep, Wyoming; sister Robin (Peggy) King of Newcastle, Wyoming; and his fur babies, Opal and Blue.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice; his parents, Ivan and Norma; his sister, Lorna Thomas; his brother Lyle King; and his true love, his dog, Sargent.
