Powder River Project moves forward

With the recent approval of ARPA funding from the State Land and Investment Board (SLIB) for the full requested amount of $800,000, Mayor Ben Glenn was commended by Councilman Dale Petersen at last week’s meeting for “his articulate speech in front of the SLIB. He did a nice job of representing the town”.

Moorcroft’s engineer, Heath Turbiville of HDR Engineering, has assured town overseers that design for the entire project is nearing completion and the applicable portion will be ready for approval by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) shortly, “Probably at your next council meeting, we’ll have your application for construction ready for approval and signature...It should be ready to go to bid as soon as they are.”

This phase takes in Powder River Avenue on the south side of Converse/Highway 14/16, starting with a bore beneath the highway north for two or three blocks. The boring mentioned is a system of installing pipes underground when digging a trench is not feasible.
