James Alan Bollig

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of James Alan Bollig, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer on November 16, 2023. James, a native of Platteville, Colorado, later became a resident of Moorcroft and Gillette, Wyoming.

James, a proud graduate of Valley High School (Class of 1977), dedicated his entire career to working with heavy equipment, showcasing his unwavering commitment and skill in his chosen field.

Beyond his professional life, James found immense joy in the great outdoors. An avid camper and fly fisherman, he reveled in the tranquility of nature and the thrill of the open sky. His love for the simple pleasures extended to his weeny dogs, who were not just pets but cherished companions, sharing in his adventures and providing unwavering companionship.

James also had a passion for the open road, enjoying the freedom of riding his Harley. One of the highlights of his year was the annual pilgrimage to Sturgis, a tradition that brought him immeasurable joy. His return was always marked by the sharing of abundant "swag," a tangible reminder of the memories made during these adventurous rides.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved daughter, Lindsay, and her husband Jerod, along with their three cherished children – Waylon, Taylor and Jaxon. James is also survived by his two sisters, Susan Shupe (and husband Mike) of Greeley, Colorado and Linda Magill (and husband Pat) of Longmont, Colorado; as well as two brothers, Chris Bollig (and wife Leatta) of Edin, Oklahoma and Leonard "Scott" Bollig of Loveland, Colorado.

James leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mary Bollig and a sister, Judy Martinez. In celebrating his life, let us remember the joy he brought to ours and the lasting impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service to honor James's life will be held, and details will be announced in due course.

May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of the landscapes he so dearly loved.
